WITH A SET OF PIONEERING NEW ACCELERATOR INNOVATION PROJECTS


A DIRECT COLLABORATION WITH MAJOR FILM / TV NETWORKS,  INTERNATIONAL NEWS ORGS, STANDARDS ORGS, UNIVERSITIES,  DEEPFAKE DETECTION COMPANIES AND 3-D HUMAN REPLICA SCANNING COMPANIES 

HAND was recently a leader of, and a participant in  – two groundbreaking IBC Accelerator Projects:


as part of the annual  IBC – International Broadcasting Convention – held at the RAI Center in Amsterdam, NL – 13-16 September, 2024.

First proposed by HAND  to IBC in November, 2023 – and pitched by HAND at IBC Accelerator Kickstart day in London, on 6 March, 2024,  ‘Digital Replicas and Talent ID: Provenance, Verification and New Automated Workflows.’  PoC tackled the evolving disruption within the media and entertainment industry, specifically focusing on the challenges associated with talent authentication in the era of deepfakes enabled by Generative AI, and demonstrated a practical and ethical way forward for consent-based digital replicas by offering a standardized identification framework for provenance automation in the media supply-chain.

The “Digital Replicas….”

First proposed by BBC & Paramount  – Design Your Weapons in the Fight Against Disinformation” developed an industry-wide understanding on the challenges and abuses being faced today by all media outlets in identifying disinformation and helping audiences identify the provenance of trustworthy news and information.

In this Accelerator Project , to demonstrate the difference between an authorized PBS Television video of President Joe Biden, and a deepfake version with an unauthorized edit of his voice  –  HAND provided the project with an interoperable HAND Talent ID for President Biden, as part of a crytpographic metadata payload in a  provenance detection workflow.

It was supported by ChampionsBBC, EBU, TV2, Paramount Global, ITN, Transmixr, Media Cluster Norway, YLE, Channel 4, Associated Press, ETC (Entertainment Technology Centre), CBC, IET, Globo, 2G Digital,  and CBS News.

Participants included: Open Origins, Eluvio, Videntifier, HAND (Human and Digital), and Nagra.

  • Identity Week – America  – 11-12  Sept. 2024 – HAND was a Startup Zone participant at the 2024 Identity Week – America conference in Washington, D.C. 
  • 5 August 2024 – HAND CEO Will Kreth was an invited guest speaker at the USPTO (United States Patent & Trademark Office) Public Roundtable: “AI and Protections for Use of an Individual’s Name, Image, Likeness, or Reputation.” The Roundtable included invited representatives from MLB Player Association, the Motion Picture Association, National Association of Voice Actors, Endeavor / William Morris, Adobe, The Authors Guild, SAG-AFTRA, RIAA, and more.
  • 23 July 2024 – HAND CEO Will Kreth participated in the “Digital Hollywood: The AI Summer Summit,” discussing the topic of Deep Fakes. These digital manipulations not only infringe on property rights and concern musicians and Hollywood personalities, but also pose significant threats as bad actors devise new, inventive, and technologically sophisticated methods to invade our privacy, compromise our computer data, and ultimately target our electronic wallets.   • 12 June 2024 – HAND CEO Will Kreth was a keynote speaker at the Identity Week – Europe conference The event marked the debut of the term HAND coined “Multi-Vector Attestation” in response to how Identity verification will respond beyond today’s KYC, MFA (multi-factor authentication), and current biometric methods in a post-Quantum Computing world.
